OSPF: link-state routing protocol

OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is a link-state protocol — unlike RIP (distance vector), each OSPF router knows the full topology of the network.

Every router builds an identical map, then independently runs Dijkstra's SPF algorithm to compute the shortest path to every destination. Changes propagate in seconds.
